Saphia Khambalia: National Weather Anchor, The Weather Network

Saphia Khambalia is a national weather anchor for The Weather Network. She brings the latest information about what is happening outside your door for viewers coast to coast each week. When she’s not on the green screen or in studio explaining weather maps with her own brand of casual, polished presentation she can also be found out in the field reporting on various weather stories and human interest features. Toronto TV watchers may remember Saphia from her days as a news reporter for Citytv, Toronto. She spent 4 years in the big smoke covering everything from breaking crime stories and court cases to parades and interviews with A-listers. She’s talked to big-time celebrities and influential figures like Bill Clinton, Aretha Franklin and Drake. Prior to that Saphia’s big break came as one of the national hosts for CBC’s 2010 FIFA World Cup Coverage. She was knee-deep in the crowds of crazy footie fans, live for the national audience watching the tournament. She also spent time as a CBC producer and writer after winning one of the prestigious Donaldson scholar awards upon graduation of Ryerson’s journalism program. Saphia has loved getting to work in the Television industry in different areas, meeting incredible people and learning a lot about the local culture, along the way. Like in Windsor for example, where she was a videographer for CBC Windsor and in Sudbury where she was with CTV Northern Ontario, reporting and interning. She was also awarded and funded to travel to East Africa to trace her roots and shoot a documentary while working as international journalist in Uganda and Tanzania. Now, Saphia is honoured to be able to interact with incredible Canadians everyday and take on the exciting weather-world as a part of The Weather Network’s on-air roster. Saphia is also an avid supporter of many charitable causes such as; MADD Canada, the Alzheimer’s society and the Lions Club of Canada, to name a few. Near and dear to her heart is her work as a regional Spokesperson for the Parkinson Society, Central & Northern Ontario. Saphia lost her beloved grandfather to the disease and continues to spread awareness and hope for a cure. Saphia was born in the Ottawa Valley, grew up in the Hamilton area and currently lives with her husband son and labradoodle in the Mississauga/Oakville, Ontario area.   You can follow her on Twitter @SaphiaTWN and Instagram: SaphiaTWN or “Like” her on Facebook: “Saphia Khambalia”
